"Concrete Matters" is a project of the artists: Anna Olivia Brunnabend, Maike Gerten and Daniel Jasser from Germany, and Gianluca Biasi from Italy. This exhibition contains the current works these artists developed and evaluated together during their stay in Madrid. Its title, which sounds simple and clear, implicates associations of a verified, proven or established situation/status. A closer contemplation on the meaning of these to words opens a far more ambiguous and symbolically charged image, which cannot be entirely located nor lifted. It opens a vast field for interpretations and suggestions. The concrete becomes an abstract, unseizeable, and highly charged matter. Eventually the facts, those with which the artists are dealing with, emerge a solid and powerful meaning in our minds. Thus 'Concrete Matters' stands for a subversive artistic investigation of commonly accepted imagery.
